blue-tit-on-perch-out-my-back-gardenLast Saturday I spent the morning in the back garden setting up a new perch for photographing the birds that come to my feeders. I brought home a nice mossy tree branch that I picked up from a walk I had earlier in the week along the Boyne River in my local area in Drogheda.

It wasn’t long before I had the birds coming to the feeders and the Sparrows started to perch on the mossy tree branch. After about an hour I realised that the tree branch was maybe a little too thick for the Blue Tits to perch on. I decided to add some bird feed on top of the mossy part of the tree branch to entice the Blue Tits to perch.

It didn’t take long before they landed and posed for a photograph.  In post processing I knew all I had to do to get rid of the food from the tree branch was to bring it into Photoshop and use the spot healing brush and it would be like it was never there.
