bad eddie boat donegalIt has been a while since I have written a blog post or had time to update my website and social media accounts. Those of you who follow me on social media would be aware I have had to use my spare time elsewhere due to my wife having an accident back in July. Thankfully she is healing well and is on the mend.

I did manage to get a week away in Donegal in September for photography. I decided to try and visit parts of Donegal that I have never have before. My first stop for a couple of days was the Poisoned Glen which lies at the foot of Mount Errigal, the tallest peak of the Derryveagh mountain range, in Dunlewey. I remember many years ago seeing a photo of the old church ruins which lies in the picturesque valley in Dunlewey and always wanted to pay a visit. I also wanted to visit the dam at the Dunlewey lough to photography the leaning over trees looking towards Mount Errigal.

Unfortunately the weather for the couple of days I was there was not great although I did manage a couple of images that turned out not too bad. I tried for a couple of evenings to capture a good sunset of the Bad Eddie old boat wreck beached on Magherclogher Beach, Bunbeg. On the last evening in Bunbeg I was treated to an amazing sunset that lasted for about 10 minutes and that produced some spectacular colours.

My next stop was the village of Fanad for 4 days as I really wanted to try and capture a decent sunset of the Fanad Lighthouse. After photographing the lighthouse for a couple of days and not really getting decent light or colour in the sky and thinking my images will end up black and white!! On the last evening I managed to capture some lovely colours with Mavic 2 drone. I also had time for a couple of long exposures which I was really happy with.

Donegal never disappoints and I look forward to another visit we have planned over the Christmas holidays, you never know there may be evening snow on Errigal!!

Below link you will find some of my for purchase from my photography trip to Donegal.
